CAA BASEBALL WEEKLY REPORT - FEB. 17 (PDF format)

CAA BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Chris King, Elon
Sr., C/DH, Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth

King batted .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles, a homer, eight RBI and three runs scored as Elon swept a three-game series from Big Ten foe Penn State. The senior also had a pair of sacrifice flies and drew a walk. King tied his career high by driving in five runs in Elon’s wild 16-15 triumph in the season opener last Friday.

CAA BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Taylor Clarke, College of Charleston
Jr., RHP, Ashburn, Va./Broad Run

Clarke gave up one run on only two hits over 6.0 innings and picked up the victory as the College of Charleston knocked off 10th-ranked South Carolina, 6-3, last Friday. After working out of trouble in the first, Clarke allowed just two baserunners over the next five frames and limited the powerful Gamecocks lineup to a .105 batting average.

CAA BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Michael Sciorra, James Madison
Fr., OF, Chantilly, Va./Chantilly

Sciorra batted .462 (6-for-13) with a double, triple, five RBI and three runs scored as James Madison won two-of-three last weekend. In his collegiate debut vs. Buffalo, he went 3-for-4, belted a game-tying three-run triple and scored the winning run in a 5-4 victory. In a 9-6 win over Gardner-Webb, Sciorra was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two runs driven in. He also stole two bases.
