CAA BASEBALL WEEKLY REPORT - MARCH 10 (PDF format)

CAA BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Corey Dick, UNCW
Sr., 1B, Albemarle, N.C./Albemarle

Dick batted .400 with two doubles, two homers and eight RBI’s at UNCW went 3-1 last week including a pair of victories over 12th-ranked Maryland. The senior first baseman had a solo homer and two RBI as the Seahawks won the opener 8-6, went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Saturday’s 11-7 triumph and was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI as UNCW fell 11-9 in Sunday’s finale.

CAA BASEBALL PLAYER & ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Kyle McPherson, James Madison
Fr., 2B, Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch

McPherson batted .643 (9-16) with three doubles, two triples, a homer and five RBI as JMU swept a four-game series from defending MAAC champ Canisius. The freshman second baseman had three hits in each of the final three games of the series, scored four runs and walked twice. The effort raised his season average to .439.

CAA BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Taylor Clarke, College of Charleston
Jr., RHP, Ashburn, Va./Broad Run

Clarke earns his third CAA Pitcher of the Week honor after one of the best outings in CofC history. The junior right-hander tossed his first career nine-inning complete game and struck out a school-record 18 batters as the Cougars defeated Radford 3-1 last Saturday. Clarke gave up just one run on five hits and didn’t issue a walk. He struck out at least two batters in seven frames and retired 12 straight hitters at one point as he improved to 3-0.
