CAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - WEEKLY REPORT (MARCH 2)

RICHMOND, Va. (March 2, 2015) – UNCW sophomore Brie Mobley was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week while William & Mary’s Abby Rendle was named CAA Rookie of the Week.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Sophomore Brie Mobley averaged 33.0 points per game while shooting 62.8 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the field to help UNCW to a pair of wins. In a 71-68 overtime victory over Delaware, Mobley scored a school-record and Trask Coliseum-record 46 points, which ranks fourth in CAA history. She also set a school and CAA record by making 19 field goals in 25 attempts against the Blue Hens. Mobley scored all nine of the Seahawks’ points in the overtime period as UNCW overcame a 12-point deficit to earn the win. Mobley also contributed 20 points in the Seahawks’ road win over Charleston. This is the second time this season in which Mobley has earned CAA Player of the Week honors.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Abby Rendle • William & Mary
Freshman | Center | Reston, Va./South Lakes
Freshman Abby Rendle helped the Tribe to a 2-0 week by averaging 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per contest. She also shot an impressive 68.8 percent (11-for-16) from the floor. In the Tribe’s win at the College of Charleston, Rendle poured in a game-high 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting adding four rebounds, two assists, and three blocks in just 20 minutes. On Sunday, in a reserve role, Rendle chipped in eight points, two rebounds, and a block in just 21 minutes. This is the second time this season in which Rendle has earned CAA Player of the Week honors.
 
 
#CAAHoops Championship Primer: The 2015 CAA Women's Basketball Championship will be held March 12-15 at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. Official seeding and tournament pairings will be announced via CAASports.com upon the conclusion of regular season play on March 4. James Madison, however, has clinched the top seed in the tournament and the CAA Regular Season Championship. Drexel has locked up the No. 2 seed while the bottom three seeds are set with Towson, College of Charleston, and Northeastern, respectively. The top six teams in the standings earn a first round bye. The quarterfinals will be broadcast live on the American Sports Network (ASN). The semifinals and final will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet. It is the fifth consecutive season in which the CAA Championship has been held at The Show Place Arena and will stay there through 2016.
