CAA BASEBALL WEEKLY REPORT - MAY 11 (PDF format)
CAA BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Blake Butler, College of Charleston
Jr., 2B, Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford
Butler batted .438 with a triple, two homers, five runs scored and seven RBI in College of Charleston’s 3-1 week. The junior hit .500 (6-12) in the Cougars’ weekend sweep of UNCW, including going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI in Friday’s 13-4 victory and 3-for-5 with a pair of homers, three runs scored and three RBI in Sunday’s 11-7 triumph. Butler is riding a five-game hitting streak and now has 23 multiple-hit games this season.
CAA BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Jason Inghram, William & Mary
Sr., LHP, Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield
Inghram tossed a complete-game, 2-hitter with a season-high 13 strikeouts in William & Mary’s 3-1 victory over Northeastern last Friday. The senior left-hander surrendered just a pair of singles and an unearned run over 9.0 innings and didn’t issue a walk. In his final home start, Inghram tied the W&M record for career wins (25) and become the second player in school history with more than 300 career strikeouts (303).
CAA BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Calvin Scott, Delaware
Fr., OF, Newark, Del./St. Mark’s
Scott batted .417 (5-12) with a double, homer and five runs scored as Delaware went 3-1 in four road games last week. The freshman outfielder reached base four times and scored twice in a 10-8 win at Saint Joseph’s, had a double and scored in Saturday’s 10-4 victory at Elon on Saturday, and recorded his first career homer in the seventh to give UD a two-run lead in Sunday’s 11-9 triumph over the Phoenix. Scott, who also drew five walks last week, is currently riding a six-game hitting streak.
