CAA BASEBALL WEEKLY REPORT - MAY 18 (PDF format)

CAA BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Corey Dick, UNCW
Sr., 1B, Albemarle, N.C./Albemarle

Dick batted .583 (7-12) with a double, two homers, five runs scored and six RBI in UNCW’s 3-1 week. The senior first baseman was 6-for-10 and had multiple hits in all three games as the Seahawks swept James Madison. He also drew four walks and was hit by a pitch for a .706 on base average while slugging 1.250. In the field, Dick was perfect on all 26 chances.

CAA BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Bradley Jones, College of Charleston
So., DH/OF, Travelers Rest, S.C./Travelers Rest

Jones batted .429 (6-14) with a double, triple, two homers, five runs scored and 10 RBI in College of Charleston’s 3-1 week. The sophomore outfielder doubled, homered and drove in four in the Cougars’ 12-5 win over Charleston Southern and went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in the opener at Northeastern. In Saturday’s finale, he had a three-run triple that gave the Cougars a 5-2 lead.

CAA BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Kevin Ross, Towson
So., RHP, Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel

Ross threw his second consecutive complete game, limiting Delaware to one run on six hits in a must-win game for the Tigers last Friday. The sophomore right-hander retired 10 straight batters after a leadoff single in the first and didn’t allow a runner past second base over the final three frames. Ross finished with a career-best seven strikeouts.

CAA BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Chris Gaffney, UNCW
Fr., C, Holtsville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist

Gaffney stepped in for injured starter Gavin Stupienski and batted .500 (4-8) in two-plus games against JMU. The freshman catcher scored two runs, drove in two runs and drew three walks for a .636 on base average.
