COMPLETE WATCH LIST
PHILADELPHIA – Villanova quarterback John Robertson, James Madison quarterback Vad Lee and Towson running back Darius Victor have been named to the preseason watch list for the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year – formerly known as the Walter Payton Award.
Robertson won the Payton Award and was a consensus first-team All-American following an historic 2014 season. He passed for 2,846 yards and 35 touchdowns, while also adding 1,078 yards and 11 scores on the ground.
Robertson – who led the FCS with an efficiency rating of 181.3 last fall - will look to become CAA Football’s first-ever repeat winner of the Payton Award/STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year award.
Lee had a standout 2014 season as well, finishing fourth in Payton Award voting and landing on the AP All-America Team. In his first season at JMU, Lee set school records with 4,288 yards of total offense, 3,462 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns, among other marks. He averaged 4.5 yards-per-rush, scoring nine times on the ground.
Victor was an All-CAA Football First Team selection last fall after leading the conference with 1,305 rushing yards. Victor’s 12 rushing touchdowns also tied for the league lead, and he eclipsed the 100-yard mark in eight games.
CAA Football players have won eight Payton Award/STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year awards in league history. This year’s winner will be announced following the completion of the regular season.
