CAA Football Rewind - 1st Round Playoffs

CAA Football was a perfect 3-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship on Saturday.

New Hampshire rolled up 637 yards of offense in a 64-21 triumph over Patriot League champion Lehigh. Dalton Crossan ran for 184 yards and 2 TD's, while quarterback Adam Riese was 18-of-30 through the air for a career-high 273 yards and 3 TD's. UNH's defense also contributed by coming up with four turnovers.

Sophomore quarterback Kevin Johnson completed 15-of-23 passes for 315 yards and a TD in his first career start to lead Richmond past North Carolina A&T, 39-10. The Spiders' defense also had a great day, limiting the Aggies to 226 total yards while forcing four turnovers.

Villanova got three first-half touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Zach Bednarczyk and topped NEC champion Saint Francis, 31-21. Defensively, the Wildcats held St. Francis to just 27 yards rushing and 264 yards overall. VU also recorded six sacks and picked off a pair of passes.

Just 16 teams remain in the FCS playoff field, with four of them coming from CAA Football. Next Saturday, New Hampshire travels to James Madison at 2 p.m., Villanova visits South Dakota State at 3 p.m. and Richmond heads to North Dakota at 6 p.m. All three games can be seen on ESPN3.
