CAA WOMEN'S LACROSSE WEEKLY REPORT - APRIL 25

RICHMOND, Va.
– The CAA honored Elon’s Maeve Cowley, Delaware’s Jamie Schwartz, Elon’s Rachel Ramirez and Towson’s Natalie Sulmonte as its women’s lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
 
 
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maeve Cowley – Elon
So. | MF | Oakhurst, N.J.
 
Elon went 2-0 and secured a spot in the CAA Championship semifinals behind six goals and an assist from Cowley. She opened the weekend with four goals in Friday’s win over Drexel, then went for two goals and an assist on Sunday in Elon’s victory over Hofstra. Cowley’s impressive weekend also included three draw controls and a caused turnover.
 
 
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamie Schwartz – Delaware
Jr. | A | Ellicott City, Md.
 
Schwartz led Delaware to a 2-0 weekend by piling up 10 points on seven assists and three goals. On Friday evening, Schwartz posted a goal and four assists as the Blue Hens handed James Madison its only conference loss of the season. Then on Sunday, she added two goals and three assists in a win over William & Mary. Schwartz also totaled three ground balls and a caused turnover in the two matches.
 
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Ramirez – Elon
Jr. | GK | Lindenhurst, N.Y.
 
Ramirez paced a strong weekend for the Elon defense, allowing just nine total goals in victories over Drexel and Hofstra. She made nine saves on the weekend – four against the Dragons followed by five against the Pride – and posted a .500 save percentage in the two games. Ramirez also added five ground balls and a caused turnover over the weekend for the Phoenix.
 
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Natalie Sulmonte – Towson
Fr. | MF | Levittown, N.Y.
 
Sulmonte had another impressive weekend for Towson, totaling four goals and two assists as the Tigers split a pair of matchups. Sulmonte posted a hat trick along with an assist in Friday’s win over William & Mary that clinched a share of the CAA title for the Tigers. Then on Sunday, she added a goal and an assist in a narrow setback to JMU. In addition to the big offensive numbers, Sulmonte also recorded eight draw controls and a caused turnover in the two games.
