CAA Announces 2016-17 MBB Conference Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. (August 18, 2016) – Riding the momentum from one of the best seasons in league history, the Colonial Athletic Association has announced its men’s basketball conference schedule for the 2016-17 campaign.
The conference will once again conduct an 18-game league schedule with all 10 CAA teams facing each other at home and on the road. The regular-season slate opens on Saturday, December 31 with a full schedule of five games and concludes on Saturday, February 25. Teams will open with a stretch of four league contests over eight days before transitioning to a Thursday/Saturday format throughout the rest of the season.
The 2017 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship will be held March 3-6 at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, S.C. after being played at Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena for the past three years.
In 2015-16, the CAA was ranked ninth among the nation’s 32 Division I conferences in the final NCAA RPI, matching the highest ranking in league history. Five CAA teams reached the 20-win mark and the league had eight teams with at least 16 victories for the first time.
Eight players from last year’s All-CAA squad return this season, including first-team honorees Chris Flemmings of UNCW, Rokas Gustys of Hofstra and Omar Prewitt of William & Mary, and second-team member William Adala Moto of Towson. The league welcomes back 62% (31-of-50) of its starters from a year ago.
The CAA will announce its television package in conjunction with the conference’s basketball media day on October 25.
