Danny Elliott were named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Soccer Players of the Week while UNCW’s
Phillip Goodrum picked up CAA Rookie of the Week.

Midfielder Ben Sampson registered a career-high two goals in the 4-0 win over Northeastern. Sampson struck twice in the second half, including the eventual game-winner in the 60th minute. He played all 180 minutes last week against No. 19 Virginia Tech and Northeastern. Sampson has started all eight games played this season for the Blue Hens and has tallied three goals.

Junior midfielder Danny Elliott scored twice and posted seven shots as Hofstra put up a convincing 4-0 win over College of Charleston on Saturday. Elliott put the Pride up 2-0 in the 15th minute with an unassisted goal. He struck again in the 80th after creating his own shot for Hofstra’s third goal of the game. Elliott now leads the team with four goals.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

UNCW freshman Phillip Goodrum picked a great time to collect his first career game-winning goal as his 12th-minute strike propelled the Seahawks to a 2-0 win over No. 5 Charlotte. Goodrum became the first player to score a goal against the previously unbeaten 49ers this season. He also had two shots in 86 minutes in the 1-1 draw with William & Mary. He has two goals this season and has started all seven games for the Seahawks, who are ranked No. 13 in this week’s Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 poll and receiving votes in the College Soccer News Top 30 poll.
