RICHMOND, Va. (October 16, 2017) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 7 of the 2017 season. Earning honors were Maine sophomore running back Josh Mack, James Madison senior linebacker Kyre Hawkins, Stony Brook junior running back Donald Liotine and Maine freshman quarterback Chris Ferguson.

Josh Mack, So., RB, Maine (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford-Mendon)

Mack rushed for 248 yards and a touchdown as Maine rallied past Rhode Island, 51-27. The sophomore, who ran for a career-best 255 yards in a win over Bryant on Sept. 9, became the first Maine back to top the200-yard mark twice in a season since 1989. He leads FCS in rushing (154.4 ypg) for the season and is averaging 6.9 yards per carry.

Kyre Hawkins, Sr., LB, James Madison (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar)

Hawkins recorded a game-high 10 tackles, set a career-high with 3.0 tackles for loss, made two sacks and broke up two passes in No. 1 James Madison’s 30-8 victory over No. 11 Villanova. The senior linebacker led a dominant effort by the Dukes’ defense, which held the Wildcats to 174 total yards and only allowed them past midfield once all afternoon,
 
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Donald Liotine, Jr., RB, Stony Brook (Medford, N.Y./Stony Brook School)

Liotine averaged 31.0 yards on four kickoff returns to help Stony Brook knock off No. 12 New Hampshire, 38-24. The junior had a long return of 42 yards and helped put SBU in good field position all night. Liotine also contributed offensively, rushing for 63 yards and 2 TD’s on 18 carries.
 
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Chris Ferguson, Fr., QB, Maine (Fort Washington, Pa./La Salle College HS)

Ferguson completed 18-of-28 passes for 214 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in Maine’s 51-27 victory over Rhode Island. The freshman’s five TD passes in a game were the most by a Black Bears’ quarterback since 2009. It was Ferguson’s second 200-yard passing performance of the season.
