CAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEEKLY REPORT - NOVEMBER 20

RICHMOND, Va. (November 20, 2017) – University of Delaware junior Nicole Enabosi and Northeastern University junior Gabby Giacone were named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Basketball Players of the Week while Northeastern University freshman Stella Clark garnered CAA Rookie of the Week accolades for the second straight week.

Junior Nicole Enabosi helped the Blue Hens to a 2-1 week by averaging 22.0 points and 13.7 rebounds per game while shooting 70 percent (24-34) from the field. She also had six blocks and 10 assists on the week. Enabosi opened the week by going 8-of-9 (.889) from the field and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe for 22 points with six assists and 17 rebounds, which tied a career best in the win at Hartford. In UD’s win over American, she led all scorers with 25 points. Against Boston University, she notched a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds in the overtime loss.

Junior Gabby Giacone averaged a double-double with 18.3 points and 11.0 rebounds to help Northeastern to a 2-1 week. She also collected six blocks and five steals. Giacone opened the week with her first career 20-point game against Providence, grabbed nine rebounds and blocks two shots against the Big East foes. She notched her sixth career double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds along with two blocks in the victory over Fairfield. She narrowly missed another double-double in the win over Marist, finishing with 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting and nine rebounds to go along with three steals and two blocks.

Freshman Stella Clark continued to impress, averaging 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists to help the Huskies to a 2-1 week. She shot 42.9 percent from the floor, 45.0 from downtown and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. She scored a season-high 28 points in the overtime loss to Big East foe Providence, shooting 60 percent from the field (9-of-15) and the perimeter (6-of-10), in 41 minutes of action. In the win over Fairfield, she posted six points and a season-best four steals. She wrapped up the week with 15 points and three rebounds in the win over Marist. Clark is averaging a team-best 16.3 points per game and leads the Huskies with seven steals and a .440 three-point field goal percentage with 11 treys.  
 

#CAAHoops – The Week that Was
 
Charleston (1-3): The Cougars were in Michigan last week for a pair of contests. CofC fell at Central Michigan on Friday before falling to (RV) Michigan State on Sunday afternoon. Darien Huff averaged 8.5 points and shot 50 percent (5-10) from three-point range last week.
 
Delaware (2-2): The Blue Hens went 2-1 on the week, topping Hartford and American before being edged by Boston University in overtime. Junior Nicole Enabosi had another big week, averaging 22.0 points and 13.7 rebounds per game while shooting 70 percent (24-34) from the field. Samone DeFreese averaged 15.0 points and 5.7 rebounds off the bench.
 
Drexel (2-1): The Dragons won back-to-back games last week, topping La Salle and Bucknell at home. Drexel held each opponent to just 54 points. Aubree Brown averaged 12.0 points while Kelsi Lidge averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 steals per game. Hannah Nihill made her collegiate debut against La Salle after recovering from a procedure to donate bone marrow to her sister with leukemia. She scored 12 points and has five assists in that debut.
 
Elon (3-0): The Phoenix remained undefeated with a pair of wins last week over North Carolina A&T and Hampton. Elon held both opponents to 59 points while averaging 86.0 points. Senior Shay Burnett averaged 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 10.0 assists over the two games. Classmate Malaya Johnson shot 73.7 percent (14-19) from the field and averaged 14.0 points per game while rookie Jaylin Powell averaged 9.0 points per game, including a 13-point effort against North Carolina A&T.
 
Hofstra (1-2): The Pride had a pair of losses to Stony Brook and Hartford last week. Senior Ashunae Durant averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks over two games.
 
James Madison (1-2): The Dukes dropped both games last week, falling at No. 13 Tennessee before being edged by Saint Joseph’s at home. Sophomore Kamiah Smalls averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, including a career-best 22 points against the Hawks.
 
UNCW (2-1): The Seahawks split games last week, clipping East Carolina before falling at Coastal Carolina. Jenny DeGraaf averaged 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds.
 
Northeastern (2-2): The Huskies went 2-1 on the week. After falling to Providence in overtime, NU topped a pair of MAAC foes in Fairfield and Marist. All five Huskies starters averaged double digits for the week, including junior Gabby Giacone, who averaged 18.3 points and 11.0 rebounds, and rookie Stella Clark, who posted 16.3 points per game.
 
Towson (0-3): The Tigers had a pair of tough losses, falling to George Washington at home and at Pitt. Raine Bankston averaged 12.5 points per game while Nukiya Mayo grabbed 9.0 rebounds per game over the two games.
 
William & Mary (2-1): The Tribe split games last week, posting a 10-point win over Fairfield before falling at St. John’s. Center Abby Rendle averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocks per game.
