This Week In CAA Football - Playoff Quarterfinals

For the fourth time in the past five years, two CAA Football teams have reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA FCS playoffs. Only CAA Football and the Missouri Valley Football Conference have two squads among the final eight, and the CAA is hoping to advance a team to the semifinals for the fifth consecutive season.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, top-seeded James Madison (12-0) hosts Big Sky Conference co-champion Weber State (11-2) in a game that can be seen on ESPN2. The Dukes are coming off a 26-7 victory over fellow CAA Football member Stony Brook last season, which extended their nation's-best winning streak to 24 games. JMU's defense tied a progam record with five interceptions against the Seawolves and quarterback Bryan Schor led the offense with 255 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Weber State is riding a seven-game winning streak, which includes playoff victories over Western Illinois (21-19) and Southern Utah (30-13).
At 3 p.m. on ESPN3, New Hamsphire (9-4) travels to Missouri Valley Football conference member South Dakota State (10-2). The Wildcats earned their third trip to the quarterfinals in the past five years after knocking off fourth-seeded Central Arkansas, 21-15. UNH's defense recorded five sacks and forced four turnovers, including a 56-yard pick six by Evan Horn. Freshman quarterback Christian Lupoli came on in relief of injured starter Trevor Knight and completed 8-of-10 passes for 63 yards, including a fourth-quarter TD to Malik Love. Fifth-seeded South Dakota State rolled past UNI 37-22 last Saturday in second-round action. The Jackrabbits are making their sixth straight playoff appearance and also made the quarterfinals a year ago.
