CAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEEKLY REPORT - FEBRUARY 27

RICHMOND, Va. (February 27, 2017) - Hofstra University junior Ashunae Durant and College of William & Mary senior Alexandra Masaquel were named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Basketball Players of the Week while James Madison's Kamiah Smalls earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors for the sixth time.

Senior Alexandra Masaquel nearly registered a double-double for the week at 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds and shot 55.0 percent from the field as the Tribe went 2-0, which including a huge win at James Madison. Masaquel notched her eighth double-double of the season on Senior Day with 14 points and 12 rebounds and added four assists, two blocks, and a steal in the victory over UNCW. On Sunday, Masaquel went a perfect 6-for-6 from the field finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, one assist, and four steals to help the Tribe hand James Madison its first loss in nine games and W&M's first at the Convocation Center since 1999.

Junior Ashunae Durant once again led the Pride in both games this weekend, averaging 21.5 points and 8.0 rebounds. She also shot a blistering 70.4 percent from the floor (19-for-27). She put up 18 points and seven rebounds in the loss to the Tigers before going 10-for-12 for 25 points in the win over the Dragons. Sunday's performance was her ninth game with 20 or more points this season and third with at least 25. She also finished one rebound off a double-double and was 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

Guard Kamiah Smalls returned to the lineup to have a solid week for James Madison. She averaged 6.0 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor over 27.5 minutes per game. Her lines were identical against both Drexel and William & Mary, recording six points, two rebounds, and an assist. This is the sixth CAA Rookie of the Week honor for Smalls.

#CAAHoops - The Week that Was

Only one seed in the CAA Women's Basketball Championship has been clinched, and that's Drexel's third seed. With one game remaining, Elon has retaken sole possession of first place in the #CAAHoops Standings while the reminder of the field is wide open.

Charleston (9-19; 6-11 CAA): The Cougars had a pair of tough losses at home, falling to Northeastern and Delaware. Senior Breanna Bolden led the Cougars in scoring (25.5ppg) and rebounding (8.5rpg) once again. Tanisha Brown had another solid week, averaging 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds.

Delaware (15-13; 9-8 CAA): The Blue Hens split games, falling to Elon before topping Charleston on the road. Sophomore Nicole Enabosi posted back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 19 points and 14 rebounds and shooting better than 59 percent from the field.

Drexel (20-6; 11-6 CAA): The Dragons lost back-to-back games for the first time all season, falling to Elon, in only their second home loss this season, and at Hofstra. Senior Sarah Curran was the only Dragon to average double figures at 16.0 points per game.

Elon (23-6; 15-2 CAA): The Phoenix went 2-0 with road wins against Delaware and Towson. Senior Jenifer Rhodes led the Phoenix in scoring in both games with 11 points at Delaware and 18 on 8-of-12 shooting against Towson.

Hofstra (12-16; 5-12 CAA): The Pride split games last week, falling to Towson before picking up a crucial victory over Drexel. Junior Ashunae Durant had another strong weekend for the Pride, averaging 21.5 points on 70 percent shooting, and 8.0 rebounds.

James Madison (21-7; 14-3 CAA): The Dukes split games last week, topping Drexel on the road before falling at home to William & Mary. Senior Precious Hall averaged a double-double for the week with 18 points and 10 rebounds and moved into fourth all-time on the CAA career scoring chart.

UNCW (11-17; 5-12 CAA): The Seahawks split games, falling at William & Mary before returning home to defeat Northeastern. Jenny DeGraaf averaged 12.5 points per game while Rebekah Banks averaged 8.0 rebounds.

Northeastern (11-18; 7-10 CAA): The Huskies had their four-game winning streak snapped, with a loss to UNCW after defeating Charleston on Friday. Senior Francesca Sally averaged 26.0 points and 9.5 rebounds, while shooting better than 58 percent for the week. Sally notched a career-best 30 points in the win over Charleston.

Towson (12-16; 5-12 CAA): The Tigers snapped an eight-game losing skid with a win at Hofstra on Friday but was edged by Elon on Sunday. Raven Bankston averaged 19.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while Sianni Martin averaged 18.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

William & Mary (18-10; 8-9 CAA): The Tribe picked up a pair wins, downing UNCW before picking up a huge win at James Madison. Senior Alexandra Masaquel nearly registered a double-double for the week at 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. For the weekend, she shot 55 percent (11-for-20) from the floor.
