CAA Announces Team Academic Excellence Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (August 3, 2017) – The CAA has announced the recipients of the inaugural Team Academic Excellence awards for the 2016-17 campaign.
Drexel led the CAA with six awards coming in women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s swimming & diving and women’s swimming & diving. Hofstra had four teams recognized while William & Mary had three of its teams honored. Elon, UNCW, Northeastern, and associate member Villanova each had two teams recognized.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes the institution with the highest collective grade point average (GPA) in all 22 sports sponsored by the CAA. The team GPA is a calculation of the grade point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution’s roster throughout the final day of their respective championship seasons during the 2016-17 academic year.
