The 2017 CAA Football season gets off to an exciting start with one of the league's most spirited rivalries, two contests pitting FCS teams ranked in the Top 25 nationally, a pair of games with local bragging rights and six matchups against FBS opponents.

The schedule kicks off with four games on Thursday night, highlighted by the Battle for the Brice-Cowell Musket between conference rivals Maine and New Hampshire. Also on the schedule, Delaware hosts in-state foe Delaware State, Elon travels to Toledo and Rhode Island visits Central Michigan.

On Friday night, No. 7 Richmond meets No. 3 Sam Houston State in a highly anticipated clash. The game, which was originally scheduled to by played last Sunday, was move to Baylor University in Waco, Texas because of the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Saturday's slate opens with another important non-conference contest as No. 10/9 Villanova heads to No. 17/17 Lehigh. Towson starts the year at home against Morgan State in the Battle for Greater Baltimore. The rest of the schedule features games against FBS opponents as reigning FCS national champion James Madison goes to East Carolina, William & Mary makes the short trip to ACC member Virginia, Stony Brook travels to No. 19 USF and UAlbany visits Old Dominion.
