CAA Football continued its dominance in non-conference play, winning 10 of 11 games on Saturday to improve the league's record against FCS foes to 19-2 for the year.
Malcolm Summers ran for a career-high 178 yards and a TD on 30 carries as Elon (2-1) knocked off No. 16 Charleston Southern, 19-17. Linebacker Warren Messer made a team-best 12 tackles for a Phoenix defense that held the Bucs to 322 total yards.
Aidan O'Neill booted three field goals, including a game-winning 42-yarder as time expired as Towson (2-1) earned a 16-14 victory at Saint Francis. Quarterback Ryan Stover completed 25-of-44 passes for 247 yards and also ran for a team-best 75 yards. The Tigers' defense allowed only 290 total yards.
Quarterback Tyler Harris completed 12-of-19 passes for 235 yards and a TD and ran for the game-winning score as Rhode Island (1-2) downed Harvard, 17-10, for its first victory of the season. Defensive lineman Jose Duncan recorded five tackles, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble for a Rams' defense that didn't allow a point in the second half.
Richmond (2-1) set a school record for points against a Division I opponent as it cruised past Howard, 68-21. Spiders' senior quarterback Kyle Lauletta completed 24-of-27 passes for 290 yards and a school-record six touchdowns, while Jay Palmer ran for 102 yards and a TD on only 12 carries.
Top-ranked James Madison (3-0) rolled up 728 yards of total offense, including 472 on the ground, and pounded Norfolk State, 75-14. Trai Sharp ran for 130 yards and a TD on only nine carries and freshman Percy Agyei-Obese chipped in 103 yards and a score. The Dukes' defense held NSU to only 91 total yards.
Delaware's defense forced five first-half turnovers that were turned into 27 points and the Blue Hens (2-1) went on to a 41-14 win over Cornell. Offensively, quarterback Joe Walker completed 20-of-30 passes for a career-high 202 yards and two touchdowns.
Villanova (2-1) tallied its highest point total in nearly 10 years in a 59-0 victory over Lafayette. Quarterabck Zach Bednarczyk was 13-of-15 passing for 237 yards and 2 TD's and also ran for a score. The Wildcats' defense surrendered only six first downs and 77 total yards, including -12 rushing yards.
Stony Brook (2-1) had six different players score a touchdown in a 45-7 triumph over Sacred Heart. Joe Carbone passed for a career-high three touchdowns and the Seawolves piled up 294 yards on the ground. Stony Brook's defense only gave up 206 yards to Sacred Heart.
William & Mary (2-1) turned in a strong second-half effort and downed Bucknell, 30-9. The Tribe scored 20 third-quarter points and their defense limited the Bison to 42 yards and no points over the final 30 minutes. Freshman Nate Evans rushed for a team-high 89 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Will Brunson passed for 196 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a score as UAlbany (2-1) beat Monmouth, 28-14. Nate Hatalsky made 15 tackles for a Great Danes defense that allowed only 63 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Trevor Knight passed for a career-high 310 yards and three touchdowns, but No. 9 New Hampshire (2-1) was beaten 51-26 at Holy Cross. Wide receiver Rory Donovan also had a big game for the Wildcats with a career-high 11 receptions for 109 yards.
