CAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEEKLY REPORT -  FEBRUARY 19

RICHMOND, Va. (February 19, 2018) – James Madison University guard Kamiah Smalls was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season while Northeastern University guard Stella Clark picked up CAA Rookie of the Week honors for the fifth time this season.

Guard Kamiah Smalls had a solid all-around week and even came away with a game-saving block to help James Madison to a 2-0 week. Smalls averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists. In the 56-53 win at Delaware, Smalls blocked the Blue Hens’ last-second three-point attempt to preserve the victory. She finished with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and a career-best two blocks. In the win over UNCW, Smalls tallied 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals to help the Dukes to their fourth consecutive victory. Smalls has scored in double figures in nine straight games and in 25 of 26 this season.

Rookie guard Stella Clark averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 30.5 minutes to help Northeastern to a 1-1 week. In the win over Towson, Clark returned to the starting lineup and posted 15 points. Against a surging Elon squad, she got the start once more and tallied a team-high 13 points, going 5-for-10 from the floor. It was her ninth double-digit scoring effort of the year.
 

#CAAHoops – The Week that Was
 
Charleston (6-20; 2-13): The Cougars had just one game last week, falling on the road to Delaware, 71-59. Bri Boyd led the Cougars with 12 points while Tanisha Brown grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds.
 
Delaware (16-9; 9-5): The Blue Hens split games last week, falling by three points to James Madison before downing College of Charleston. Junior Nicole Enabosi, who has double-doubles in each of her last four games, averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 3.0 assists per game. Rookie Lizzie Oleary averaged 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
 
Drexel (19-6; 11-2): The Dragon notched their 20th win over the season with a 54-34 win over William & Mary in their only game. Drexel also improved to 11-0 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center and completed the season sweep of the Tribe. Defensively, the Dragons held W&M to single digits in all four quarters. Bailey Greenberg scored 12 points to lead the team, going 6-for-11 inside the arc, while Kelsi Lidge scored 10 points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in a solid all-around effort
 
Elon (19-7; 11-4): The Phoenix pushed their winning streak to seven games with a pair of road victories at Hofstra and Northeastern. Senior Malaya Johnson posted 17.0 points on 72.7 percent shooting (16-for-22). Senior Shay Burnett dished out her 500th assist over the weekend, becoming the sixth player in CAA history to record 1,000 points, 500 assists, and 400 rebounds in a career.
 
Hofstra (11-15; 5-10): The Pride opened the week with a tough loss to Elon, but rebounded with a victory over Towson to snap a seven-game slide. Senior Aleana Leon averaged 18.0 points per game while Marianne Kalin averaged 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds.
 
James Madison (18-8; 14-1): The Dukes pushed their winning streak to four games with road win at Delaware and a home win at UNCW. Kamiah Smalls averaged 14.0 points while Lexie Barrier averaged 13.5 points and 2.5 assists per game.
 
UNCW (9-17; 2-13): The Seahawks split road games, topping William & Mary before falling to first-place James Madison. Redshirt senior Jenny DeGraaf had a solid week, averaging 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.
 
Northeastern (13-13; 8-7): The Huskies split home games, topping Towson before falling to Elon. Rookie Stella Clark averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 assists per game.
 
Towson (9-17; 4-11): The Tigers dropped a pair of road contests to Northeastern and Hofstra. Danielle Durjan had a strong week, averaging 16.0 points per game while Nukiya Mayo averaged 12.5 points and 10.0 Rebounds per game.
 
William & Mary (16-10; 7-8): The Tribe had a pair of losses to UNCW and Drexel last week. Senior Abby Rendle averaged 10.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
