CAA Men's Soccer Weekly Awards - Oct. 10

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 10, 2022) – Hofstra sophomore Eliot Goldthorp, Stony Brook senior Edmond Kaiser, and Stony Brook freshman Jon Jelercic have been selected as Colonial Athletic Association weekly award recipients in men’s soccer for their performances over the past week.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eliot Goldthorp, Hofstra
Sophomore | Midfield | Leeds, United Kingdom / Woodhouse Grove School
Goldthorp’s hat trick led the way in Hofstra’s win at Columbia before he scored a pivotal goal in a CAA victory at UNCW. The sophomore from the UK tallied three of five Pride goals in a Tuesday trip into the city and notched a game-tying penalty in the 77^th minute to pull even with the Seahawks to set up a 2-1 win Saturday.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Edmond Kaiser, Stony Brook
Senior | Goalkeeper | Karlsruhe, Germany / Helmholtz Gymnasium
Kaiser recorded his first clean sheet of 2022 to help Stony Brook earn three key CAA points on Saturday against Charleston. The senior keeper turned aside four Cougar shots in a 2-0 Seawolves victory; the shutout was the seventh of Kaiser’s career.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jon Jelercic, Stony Brook
Freshman | Defender | Maribor, Slovenia
Jelercic factored into both Stony Brook goals in a 2-0 Saturday win over Charleston. The defender from Slovenia scored his first career goal in the 31^st minute and assisted on a Jonas Bickus tally in the 72^nd as the Seawolves collected an important victory in the CAA standings.
