RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 12, 2022) – Elon junior Garrett Risner and Charleston sophomores Emma Schimpf and Kieron van Wyk are the Colonial Athletic Association Golfers of the Week for their recent performances.
 
CO-MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Garrett Risner, Elon
Junior | Holly Springs, N.C. / Apex Friendship
A second-round 63 fueled Risner’s medalist achievement at the Phoenix Invitational, as the Elon junior was 14-under to win the tournament. Risner’s performance, along with a second place showing from Bronson Myers at 13-under, helped Elon win its home tournament.
 
CO-MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Kieron van Wyk, Charleston
Sophomore | Rumisig, South Africa / Curro Aurora
The defending CAA Championship medalist was 13-under at the Bank of Tennessee Invitational to split the individual title. van Wyk closed the tournament with a pair of bogey-free rounds to go 72-65-66 at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges. The sophomore from South Africa birdied 15 and 16 in Tuesday’s final round.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Emma Schimpf, Charleston
Sophomore | Daniel Island, S.C. / Oceanside Collegiate Academy
Schimpf is the CAA Golfer of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season after collecting co-medalist honors at the Edisto Island Invitational. The sophomore from South Carolina went 72-66-72 for a 3-under performance and helped No. 25 Charleston to a second-place finish.

Charleston finished eighth at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate with Kieron van Wyk collecting co-medalist honors at 13-under … Drexel placed fourth at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in California … Oscar Maxfield tied for fourth at 7-under … Garrett Risner and Bronson Myers went 1-2 for Elon, which won its home tournament … William & Mary placed fourth with a top-10 from Logan Hunter, while North Carolina A&T was led by Diego Gonzalez Dino Capazrio led Hofstra at the Seawane Club Classic on Long Island …  Towson tied for fifth and Monmouth finished 11th at the Bucknell Invitational … Julian Gonzalez earned a top-10 result for the Tigers and Erik Stevens was sixth overall for the Hawks.
 
Women’s Notes
Charleston was second, Elon placed fifth, and William & Mary finished ninth at the Edisto Island Invitational … Emma Schimpf’s 3-under was good for co-medalist honors and made her one of two Cougars in the top 10 along with Othilie LiedAnnabelle Ackroyd finished in the top 10 for the Phoenix and Emma Lu led the Tribe … Delaware placed 12th at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Colorado with Christina Carroll leading the way for the Blue Hens … Monmouth’s Ava Lozito defeated Hofstra’s Cynthia Zhao by one shot at the Birdies Against Breast Cancer dual match on Long Island … North Carolina A&T finished second at the Outer Banks Intercollegiate with Victoria Stutts tying for third … Towson placed 10th at East Carolina’s Pirate Collegiate Classic with Madison Barber in the top 20.
