KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 12, 2022) - Hofstra men's soccer sophomore forward/midfielder, who earlier this week was named the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, added another award to his resumé as he was selected Division I National Player of the Week by the United Soccer Coaches. Goldthorp had also been named to the College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer Teams of the Week. He is the first Hofstra men's soccer player to earn National Player of the Week honors from the coaches association.
Goldthorp put together a four-goal performance in Hofstra's 2-0 week. He started strong with his first career hat trick at Columbia in a 5-1 win. He then had a game-tying penalty kick goal late in the second half of what ended up a key 2-1 CAA victory at UNCW this past Saturday night. Following his one-goal, two-assist game last night against Saint Joseph's in a 4-0 win, Goldthorp now has 11 goals and five assists for 27 points. His 27 points leads the nation and he is tied for the national lead with 11 goals.
Hofstra, which has a nine-game unbeaten streak and a four-game winning streak, will be back in action Saturday against Elon. The Pride and the Phoenix are tied atop the CAA standings. The game is also a rematch of the 2021 CAA Championship game, which was won by Hofstra.
