CAA Cross Country Weekly Awards – Oct. 18

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 18, 2022) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its weekly cross country awards following the seventh week of the 2022 season. Northeastern junior Abigail Hassman earned CAA Women’s Runner of the Week honors, while Stony Brook graduate student Robert Becker was named CAA Men’s Runner of the Week.
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Hassman set a Northeastern 6K program record at the Penn State National Open, completing the course in a time of 20:41.0. The performance earned her a top-10 finish, placing seventh individually, and led Northeastern to a third-place finish in the 18-team field.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Robert Becker, Stony Brook
Graduate | Hurley, N.Y. / Kingston HS
Becker recorded a top-10 finish at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, finishing the 8K course in a time of 24:14.0. It was the fourth time in as many races that Becker has paced the Seawolves this fall, earning a 10
th-place finish overall and leading Stony Brook to finish third in the team standings.
Women’s Notes
Charleston was led by Sophia Brown, who earned a top-10 finish (6th/22:05.10) at the Pirate Invitational as the Cougars finished runner-up in the team standings … Delaware competed in the Penn State National Open and hosted the Delaware Invitational over the weekend. Autumn Sands paced the Blue Hens in University Park (47th/21:48.7), while Jessica Pidgeon recorded a top-three finish (3rd/24:24.23) at Delaware’s home invitational … Elon won the team title at the Pirate Invitational behind a third-place finish from Jette Beermann (21:28.53) … Jordan Mozie paced Hampton at the Pirate Invitational (26th/23:26.43), recording a personal-best in the 6K … Monmouth placed 12th at the IC4A/ECAC Championships. Josie Wilson was the top finisher for the Hawks (30th/22:11.5) … Fajr Kelly paced North Carolina A&T at the Vertcross Challenge (35th/24:16.4), and she has been the top finisher for the Aggies in every race she has run for the team throughout her career … Kendall Hobbs earned a top-15 finish (13th/22:35.2) to lead UNCW for the fourth straight race at the Pirate Invitational … Northeastern finished third at the Penn State National Open and won the team title at the Suffolk Invitational. Four Huskies finished top 25 at Penn State, including Hassman, while Madison Neuner won the individual title at the Suffolk Invitational (22:58.4) … Stony Brook placed three runners in the top 10 to win the team title at the IC4A/ECAC Championships. Fiona McLoughlin led the way, finishing fourth with a time of 21:15.0 … Towson won the team title at the Delaware Invitational as Beighley Ayers earned her first collegiate win, crossing the line in 24:07.11 … Sofia Istnick (28th/17:30.8) was the top finisher for William & Mary at the Virginia XC23 Invitational.
Men’s Notes
Hammer Blair paced the Charleston men for the second straight race, finishing top-25 (22nd/25:56.88) at the Pirate Invitational … Elon finished runner-up at the Pirate Invitational as Zane Jackson earned a top-5 finish (4th/24:45.87) to pace the Phoenix … Rushshane Fullerton (58th/28:35.74) was the top finisher for Hampton at the Pirate Invitational … Monmouth finished ninth at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, led by Louis DiLaurenzio posting a season-best time of 24:57.2 (32nd) … Jordan Richardson finished just outside the top-25 (27th/26:33.7) to lead North Carolina A&T at the Vertcross Challenge … Sam Bland was the top finisher (29th/26:15.7) for UNCW at the Pirate Invitational. It is the third time in four races this season the freshman has paced the Seahawks … Northeastern placed second in a pair of meets over the weekend, competing in the Penn State National Open and Suffolk Invitational. Benjamin Godish won the individual title at the Penn State National Open (24:54.8), and Malav Mehta earned a top-5 finish (5th/25:55.3) at the Suffolk Invitational … Stony Brook recorded a third-place finish at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, placing four runners in the top-20 … Jacob Jones (66th/24:25.5) paced William & Mary at the Virginia XC23 Invitational.
