CAA Cross Country Weekly Awards – Oct. 4

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 4, 2022) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its weekly cross country awards. Elon’s Leandra Lorenz earned CAA Women’s Runner of the Week honors, and Hofstra’s Abraham Longosiwa collected CAA Men’s Runner of the Week accolades following impressive performances at the 48th Annual Paul Short Run.
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Leandra Lorenz, Elon
Redshirt Junior | Kleinmachnow, Germany / Vicco von Bülow Gymnasium Stahnsdorf
Lorenz established a new Elon 6K program record at the Paul Short Run, posting a time of 20:02.9. She crushed the previous record of 20:25.67, which was set in 2019, and with the performance, Lorenz finished 21st out of over 400 competitors. Lorenz was the top finishing CAA athlete in the competition and led Elon to a seventh-place finish out of 46 teams in the Women’s College Gold standings.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Abraham Longosiwa, Hofstra
Freshman | Eldoret, Kenya / Goseta Boys
Longosiwa earned a top-15 finish at the Paul Short Run, covering the 8K course in a time of 23:17.3. He was the highest finishing CAA athlete in the race, earning an 11th-place finish out of 416 competitors. Additionally, in his second 8K race at the colligate level, the freshman posted the second-fastest time in Hofstra program history.
Women’s Notes
Tiffany Herrera paced
Delaware at the Paul Short Run, posting a time of 22:12.0 (53rd) as the Blue Hens finished 26th in the team standings of the Women’s College Brown Division … Maggie Springer would have broken the Elon 6K program record at the Paul Short Run if not for Lorenz. Springer finished 44th with a time of 20:21.3 … Jordyn McDonnell earned a top-20 finish in the Women’s College Brown Division at the Paul Short Run to lead the
Hofstra women to a 21st-place finish. In her first 6K this season, she posted a time of 21:33.2 (17th) … Fiona McLoughlin paced Stony Brook at the Paul Short Run, finishing 60th (20:30.3) in the Women’s College Gold Division and helping the Seawolves place 24th as a team …
Towson was led by Beighley Ayers in the Women’s College Brown Division at the Paul Short run as she finished 26th with a personal-best time of 21:50.7 to help the Tigers place 28th as a team … Sofia Istnick was the top finisher for William & Mary in the Women’s College Gold Division at the Paul Short Run, completing the course in 20:48.0 (93rd) as the Tribe finished 27th in the team standings.

Zane Jackson was the top finisher for

William & Mary placed 27th in the team standings in the Men’s Gold Division of the Paul Short Run as Jacob Jones crossed the line first for the Tribe (24:13.4/120th).
