RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 5, 2022) – William & Mary freshman Charlie Bundy and Charleston sophomore Emma Schimpf are the Colonial Athletic Association Golfers of the Week for their recent performances.
 
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Charlie Bundy, William & Mary
Freshman | Bethesda, Md. / Landon School
Bundy tied for second at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic at 3-under, with his 213 good for the second-best 54-hole score by a freshman in program history. The freshman from Maryland recorded a 4-under 68 in the final round, which was the second-best 18-hole performance by a W&M rookie, as the Tribe finished second at the event behind host East Carolina and ahead of two other CAA teams.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Emma Schimpf, Charleston
Sophomore | Daniel Island, S.C. / Oceanside Collegiate Academy
Schimpf was under par in all three rounds to win the Evie Odom Invitational at 9-under and help No. 25 Charleston to a two-stroke victory over Minnesota in team competition. Schimpf carded a 3-under 67 in the first round and was 1-under in the second round before turning in a 65 in Sunday’s final round as the Cougars held off the Gophers. The title is Schimpf’s second medalist honor in her first three semesters of college golf.

Men’s Notes
William & Mary (2nd), Delaware (4th), and North Carolina A&T (10th) competed in the 12-team Ironwood Collegiate Classic, hosted and won by East Carolina … W&M’s Charlie Bundy tied for second at 3-under, while Delaware’s Michael Bargenda and Casper Nerpin tied for sixth at 1-under … Christopher Pieper was North Carolina A&T’s top finisher … Monmouth placed fourth at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational with Matt McCormick tied for fifth at even par.
 
Women’s Notes
Charleston won the Evie Odom Invitational with a two-stroke victory over Minnesota and Emma Schimpf collected medalist honors at 9-under, also winning by two shots … Delaware wrapped up the Golfweek Red Sky Classic last Wednesday with a ninth-place result and three Blue Hens – Christina Carroll, Alisa Khokhlova, and Anna Kittelson – tying for the top spot on the team … Hofstra placed seventh at the Hartford Hawks Invitational with Savannah Weyrauch tying for sixth … Monmouth finished sixth as a team and Paige Diecidue and Ava Lozito were tied for sixth individually at the Navy Fall Invitational … William & Mary was 10th at the same event with Sarah Houle tied for fourth.
