CAA Begins Inaugural Indoor Track & Field Season this Weekend

RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 1, 2022) – The NCAA Indoor Track and Field season starts this weekend, and for the first time in conference history, the CAA will sponsor an Indoor Track and Field Championship this winter.
Twelve conference institutions – Charleston, Delaware, Elon, Hampton, Hofstra, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, UNCW, Northeastern, Stony Brook, Towson and William & Mary – will sponsor women’s indoor track and field, while seven league members – Hampton, Hofstra, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, Northeastern, Stony Brook and William & Mary – will sponsor men’s indoor track and field.
The inaugural season of CAA Indoor Track and Field begins on Friday, and the season culminates in Virginia Beach on February 22 and 23 for the 2022-23 CAA Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Eight conference teams will get their year underway this weekend. Hofstra, Monmouth and Stony Brook get the party started on Friday as the Pride participates in the Fast Track Season Opener at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, while the Hawks and Seawolves travel to the Armory to partake in the Rutgers Holiday Classic. The Pride is also one of six conference teams competing on Saturday as Hofstra returns to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational hosted by St. John’s. Additionally, Delaware and Towson begin their seasons at Boston University for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener (FloTrack), along with William & Mary heading to Annapolis to participate in the Navy Invitational, Elon traveling to the JDL Fast Track for the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off and Hampton competing VMI Team Challenge.
