CAA Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards - Nov. 8

RICHMOND, Va. (November 8, 2022) – Delaware swept the CAA swimming and diving weekly awards after the men defeated conference foe William & Mary and the women beat the Tribe and James Madison last weekend. Freshman Dylan Smolders was named Men’s Swimmer of the Week and sophomore Anthi Lyra was selected as the Women’s Swimmer of the Week. Freshman Kevin Siegfried earned his third Men’s Diver of the Week honor and freshman Alex Pastris was recognized as Women’s Diver of the Week for the second time.
 
CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Dylan Smolders, Fr., Delaware (West Chester, Pa.)
 
Smolders placed first in the 500 free and 1000 free to help Delaware defeat William & Mary last weekend. The freshman had a time of 9:37.96 in the 1000, which was the 9th-fastest in program history and the 3rd-best in the CAA this season. His winning time of 4:37.70 in the 500 also ranks third in the conference this season.
 
CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Anthi Lyra, So., Delaware (Athens, Greece)

Lyra picked up first-place finishes in the 500 free and 1000 free as Delaware earned team wins over James Madison and William & Mary last weekend. The sophomore posted a time of 10:22.30 in the 1000, which was the 9th-fastest in program history and 4th-best in the CAA this season. Her time of 5:02.61 in the 500 ranks fifth among all swimmers in the conference this season.

CAA Men’s Diver of the Week
Kevin Siegfried, Fr., Delaware (Chalfont, Pa.)
 
Siegfried earned his third Men’s Diver of the Week honor after posting a pair of first-place finishes with NCAA Zone cut performances against William & Mary. The freshman recorded personal-best scores on both boards, compiling 347.70 points to capture the 3-meter competition and 314.18 points to take first place in the 1-meter competition.
 
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Alex Pastris, Fr., Delaware (Broomall, Pa.)
 
Pastris placed first on the 1-meter board and third in the 3-meter competition to help Delaware defeat James Madison and William & Mary last weekend. The freshman improved on her NCAA Zone cut score on the 1-meter board with a personal best 286.65 points and also set a new personal best on the 3-meter board with a score of 279.30.
