CAA Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards – Dec. 13

RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 13, 2022) – The CAA has announced its indoor track and field weekly award winners following the second weekend of December. Hofstra senior distance runner Jordyn McDonnell earned CAA Track Athlete of the Week honors, and Northeastern graduate thrower Gianna Rao received CAA Field Athlete of the Week accolades on the women’s side. In addition, Monmouth redshirt sophomore pole vaulter was named CAA Field Athlete of the Week for the men.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jordyn McDonnell, Hofstra
Senior | Distance | Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y. / Sachem North
McDonnell won the mile at the Seahawk shootout, posting the conference’s top time in the event this season. The senior finished the race in a time of 5:02.30 to beat the field by over three seconds. Her time currently ranks 26th in the NCAA this season.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Gianna Rao, Northeastern
Graduate | Throws | Glocester, R.I. / Ponaganset HS
Rao broke the Northeastern program record in the weight throw at the Joe Donahue Games Opener in her first competition with the Huskies. The graduate student was the top-finishing collegiate participant, placing second overall with a throw of 20.52m (64-07.00). The mark is once centimeter short of her personal record and ranks sixth in the NCAA this year.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

R-Sophomore | Pole Vault | Tunkhannock, Pa. / Tunkhannock Area HS
Yeust won the pole vault at the Seahawk Shootout with a clearance of 4.85m (15-11.00). The mark ties a personal best for the redshirt sophomore and is the second-best indoor performance in Monmouth program history. Additionally, he ranks first in the conference this season, 0.35m better than the next-best mark.
Women’s Notes
Hofstra – The Pride competed at the Seahawk Shootout hosted by Wagner. Kayla Stadeker ran a personal best in the 300m (52.85) … Monmouth – The Hawks traveled to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Seahawk Shootout. Ashley Navarro won the 3000m with a personal-best time of 10:16.11 … Northeastern – The Huskies opened their season by hosting the Joe Donahue Games. A pair of Huskies earned event victories, including Dominique Biron (long jump) and Ariann Robinson (300m). Biron’s long jump of 5.81m (19-00.75) is the best in the conference by 0.28m.
Men’s Notes
Hofstra – The Pride participated in the Seahawk Shootout at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Paul Markovina earned a top-three finish in the mile, finishing third with a time of 4:18.07 … Monmouth – The Hawks competed in the Seahawk Shootout hosted by Wagner. Four Monmouth student-athletes earned event wins as Tennessee Tremain (1000m), Louis DiLaurenzio (3000m), and Mujeeb Ali (shot put) joined Yeust … Northeastern – The Huskies hosted the Joe Donahue Games to open their indoor season. Kyle Sarney placed second in the mile with a time of 4:13.40, which ranks second in the CAA this season.
