BALTIMORE (Dec. 2, 2022) – Four CAA lacrosse players – three from the Stony Brook women’s team and one from the Delaware men – were named to Inside Lacrosse Top 50 lists for the 2023 season.

Stony Brook midfielder Ellie Masera came in at No. 6 on ILWomen’s list. Masera is coming off a season where she became the first underclassman in program history to earn First Team All-America honors and was just one of two underclassmen in the nation to earn the recognition. Her 87 points and 67 goals were both team-bests and she was top 25 in the nation in goals per game (17th) and points per game (25th). The 100 draw controls by the Long Island native marked the fifth time in program history that someone reached the triple-digit figure, joining two instances each from alumnae Keri McCarthy and Ally Kennedy.

Stony Brook attacker Kailyn Hart ranks at No. 32 on the list. The 2022 America East Attacker of the Year, ILWomen All-America Honorable Mention, USA Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention, and First Team All-America East finished the season with a career-best 64 goals. Hart was key in Stony Brook earning an NCAA Tournament at-large selection, as she scored 18 goals over her final five games and recorded 11 consecutive hat tricks starting with four goals against Vermont on March 26. The Long Islander collected 3.56 goals per game which was 19th in the nation and helped Stony Brook lead the America East with 17.3 goals per game.

Stony Brook defender Clare Levy earned the No. 37 spot in the ILWomen rankings. After earning All-America East First Team honors, USA Lacrosse All-America Second Team, and collecting ILWomen All-America Honorable Mention last season, Levy helped Stony Brook hold opponents to a nation-leading 6.69 goals per game. The Long Island native finished the season with career-bests in ground balls (31), points (7), and draw controls (39). In addition, the defender caused 18 turnovers in the 19 games she started in.

On the men’s side, Delaware defenseman Owen Grant was ranked at No. 21. Grant earned CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season in 2022, marking the first player to complete the feat since 2013-14, in addition to All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse, USA Lacrosse Magazine, and the USILA. His 35 caused turnovers ranked sixth nationally and he caused at least one turnover in 18 of 19 games in the spring, including 11 games with two or more. Additionally, Grant recorded 47 ground balls while scoring six goals with three assists for nine points in 2022.
