CAA Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards - Dec. 6

RICHMOND, Va. (December 6, 2022) – Towson junior Brian Benzing repeated as the Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Drexel senior Ewa Osiniak was selected as the Women’s Swimmer of the Week. Delaware freshman Kevin Siegfried was named Men’s Diver of the Week for the fourth time and Drexel junior Cora Hochstetler was chosen as the Diver of the Week.
CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Brian Benzing, Jr., Towson (Ellicott City, Md.)
Competing against some of the top swimmers in the nation at the Toyota U.S. Open, Benzing qualified for the finals sessions in the 100 fly and 100 breast. His time of 1:02.35 (LCM) in the 100 breast prelims was just 0.16 off the qualifying mark for the U.S. Olympic Trials and he finished 12
th in the event (1:02.84). He also placed 20
th overall in the 100 fly with a time of 54.83 (LCM).
CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Ewa Osiniak, Sr., Drexel (Lublin, Poland)
Osiniak recorded three first-place finishes and a second-place performance in Drexel’s 196-98 triumph over Lehigh. The senior captured the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.09 and the 100 IM with a time of 57.99. She was also part of the Dragons’ winning 200 medley relay team and was the runner-up in the 200 free.
CAA Men’s Diver of the Week
Kevin Siegfried, Fr., Delaware (Chalfont, Pa.)
Siegfried swept both boards in Delaware’s team victory at West Chester last Friday. The freshman posted a score of 273.0 in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions to earn his fourth weekly conference honor.
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Cora Hochstetler, Jr., Drexel (Allentown, Pa.)
Hochstetler posted a pair of top-three finishes to help Drexel defeat Lehigh last Saturday. The junior placed second on the 3-meter board with a score of 239.55 and turned in a third-place effort on the 1-meter board with a score of 219.45.
