Charleston's van Wyk Named Black College Golfer of the Year; Three CAA Golfers Earn BCGCA All-America Honors

NORMAN, Okla. (July 20, 2022) – Charleston men’s golfer
Kieron van Wyk was selected by the Black College Golf Coaches Association as the Adrian Stills Award recipient, earned by the Black College Golfer of the Year, the BCGCA announced Wednesday.
van Wyk, the individual medalist at the CAA Men’s Golf Championship in April, tied the tournament record at 13-under in the 54-hole event. The freshman from South Africa helped Charleston to the CAA’s first National Championship appearance since 2007 with a fifth-place result in the Palm Beach Gardens Regional in May that advanced the Cougars to Grayhawk. van Wyk also collected BCGCA Outstanding Freshman honors and an All-America honor.

Jeffrey Cunningham and
Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa joined van Wyk to give the CAA three of the 10 BCGCA All-America honors – the most of any conference.
