CAA Field Hockey Weekly Awards – Sept. 12

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 12, 2022) – A pair of Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey student-athletes were named weekly award winners after three goals over the past week. William & Mary senior Lauren Curran was named CAA Player of the Week, while Delaware freshman Noelle Sabbagh collected CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.

Senior | Forward | Media, Pa. / Academy of Notre Dame de Namur
Curran tallied six points on three goals, leading William & Mary to a 2-0 week, including its third straight victory over a nationally ranked opponent. The senior scored both fourth-quarter goals in the Tribe’s 2-0 victory over Davidson on Friday night before scoring the equalizer six minutes into the second half to help William & Mary rally past No. 16 Duke, 2-1.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Noelle Sabbagh, Delaware
Freshman | Forward | Lewes, Del. / Cape Henlopen HS
In her first two career starts, Sabbagh notched the first three scores of her career against a pair of top-10 teams. The freshman forward recorded two goals against No. 10 UConn, including her first career goal and the first multi-goal performance in her career. In the weekend finale, Sabbagh found the back of the cage in the third quarter, tying the contest against No. 8 Penn State, despite the Blue Hens eventually falling to the Nittany Lions.
