RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 14, 2022) – William & Mary graduate student Matthew Feinstein and Charleston sophomore Emma Schimpf are the Colonial Athletic Association Golfers of the Week for their recent performances.
 
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Matthew Feinstein, William & Mary
Graduate Student | McLean, Va. / Langley
Feinstein won the VCU Shootout with a tournament-tying record of 15-under 201, which was also the lowest score since the tournament moved to the Country Club of Virginia in 2015. He birdied his final hole to post the victory, capping a final 36 holes that was bogey-free with 12 birdies. He also bettered the W&M school record previously at 14-under par.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Emma Schimpf, Charleston
Sophomore | Daniel Island, S.C. / Oceanside Collegiate Academy
Schimpf tied for second at the Cougar Classic with an 8-under 205 against a field that included 14 Power 5 programs. The reigning CAA Rookie of the Year was 3-under in Tuesday’s final round with three birdies and led the field in par-4 scoring at 3.73.
 
Men’s Notes
Drexel, William & Mary, Elon, and North Carolina A&T competed Monday and Tuesday in Richmond at the VCU Shootout … William & Mary’s Matthew Feinstein captured medalist honors with a tournament and program-record 15-under performance … Drexel was the top CAA team in the field in a tie for sixth, while William & Mary tied for ninth, Elon placed 11^th and North Carolina A&T was 14^th… Delaware placed fourth at the Golfweek Fall Challenge with a top-five finish from Sparky Ariyachatvakin … Hofstra was led at the Doc Gimmler by a fourth-place result from Dino Capazario, who set a program at 200 (-10) over 54 holes on the par-70 course … Towson placed fourth as a team at the same event with Jeremy Summerson in the top 15 … Monmouth was led by Travis Dix at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial … UNCW tied for sixth at the Rod Myers Intercollegiate with Patrick Sparks and Walker Isley in the top 20.
 
Women’s Notes
Elon won the William & Mary Fall Invitational with Towson finishing fifth and William & Mary seventh … Elon’s Annabelle Ackroyd and William & Mary’s Sarah Houle tied for fifth, while the Phoenix’s Leiu Yuenyong and Tigers’ Odette Font Garcia tied for seventh … Charleston jumped six spots on the final day of the Cougar Classic to finish third, ahead of 12 Power 5 and 10 top-50 programs … Emma Schimpf tied for second individually at 205 … UNCW was second and Delaware placed sixth as a team at the Golfweek all Challenge … The Seahawks were led by top-10 results from Mallory Fobes (207) and Phu Khine (210) and a program-record round to close the tournament, while the Blue Hens were led by a fourth-place finish from Christina Carroll with a program-record 207.
