RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 19, 2022) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its weekly field hockey honors. Drexel’s Taylor Mason was named CAA Player of the Week, and Emmy Stubbs of Northeastern earned CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Mason, Drexel
Graduate | Midfield | Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks West
Mason led Drexel to a 2-0 week against a pair of in-state adversaries with four points on two goals. Against Saint Francis, the graduate student opened the scoring with her first goal in a Drexel uniform, helping the Dragons to a 3-2 victory. She followed the performance by tallying the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Penn, finding the back of the cage on a penalty corner in the fourth quarter. The goal against the Quakers propelled Drexel to its first win over Penn since 2010.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Emmy Stubbs, Northeastern
Freshman | Forward | Houston, Texas / The Kinkaid School
Stubbs recorded her first career assist in Northeastern’s weekend contest against Maine. The freshman forward found Mak Graves on the Huskies’ opening goal of the game, which sparked a 2-0 run for Northeastern before its comeback effort ended short. With the assist, Stubbs has recorded at least one point in five straight matches.
