CAA Cross Country Weekly Awards – Sept. 6

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 6, 2022) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its first cross country weekly award winners for the 2022 season. On the women’s side, Leandra Lorenz of Elon was selected as the CAA Women’s Runner of the Week. For the men, Alexander Korczynski of Northeastern garnered CAA Men’s Runner of the Week accolades.
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Leandra Lorenz, Elon

Lorenz opened the season, earning an individual victory to lead the Phoenix to the team title at the Elon Opener. Lorenz finished the 4K course in a time of 13:22.3 as Elon topped the eight-team field, including in-state rivals Duke, East Carolina and CAA foe UNCW.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Alexander Korczynski, Northeastern
Graduate | Willimantic, Conn. / Windham HS
The 2022 CAA Individual Champion had an impressive start to the season, running 15:07.7 to earn an individual victory at the Suffolk Short Course Classic. Korczynski finished 15 seconds ahead of the second-place runner, leading Northeastern to the team title at the 15-team competition.
