CAA Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards – Jan. 24

RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 24, 2023) – The CAA has announced its fourth edition of Indoor Track and Field weekly awards for the 2022-23 season. North Carolina A&T and Northeastern headlined the honors as the Aggies collected three accolades and the Huskies claimed two awards. North Carolina A&T sprinters Reheem Hayles and Jada Griffin earned the respective honors of CAA Men’s and Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Aggie jumper Aeneas Reed was selected as the CAA Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Northeastern multi Dominique Biron was named CAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, and Husky sprinter/hurdler Ethan Exhilhomme shared CAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jada Griffin, North Carolina A&T
Senior | Sprints | Spring Lake, N.C. / Overview
Griffin won the 400m at the Carolina Challenge, running a personal-best 53.97 in the event. Her time is the best in the conference this season and ranks 25th in the NCAA. Additionally, Griffin was a member of the Aggies’ 4x400m relay team, which set a league-leading time of 3:42.24. The time was good for third place in the competition, while it is over eight seconds fastest than the next closest team in the conference and ranks 36th in the nation.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Dominique Biron, Northeastern

Biron set a Northeastern program record in the pentathlon at the Hokie Invitational with a score of 4,113 points. The performance ranks third in the NCAA and is over 700 points better than second place in the CAA. During the five events, Biron set two personal records, including 1.77m (5-09.75) in the high jump and 12.36m (40-06.75) in the shot put. The clearance in the high jump is the top mark in the CAA this season and ranks 28th in the NCAA. Additionally, she ran 8.95 in the 60m hurdles, leaped 5.80m (19-00.50) in the jump and finished the 800m in 2:23.43.

Ethan Exilhomme, Northeastern
Sophomore | Sprints / Hurdles | Tewksbury, Mass. / Timbercreek HS
Exilhomme recorded three personal-best times and reset his own Northeastern program record in the 60m hurdles for the second straight week. On Saturday, the sophomore won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.71 to better is league-leading time, which ranks seventh in the NCAA, and broke the facility record at Boston University. In addition, he established a personal record of 21.61 in the 200m, a time that is third in the conference. The day prior, Exilhomme won the 60m dash, running 6.72 for a lifetime best mark and the top time in the CAA this season.

Reheem Hayles, North Carolina A&T

Hayles earned a pair of event victories at the Carolina Challenge, claiming the top spot in the 400m and was a member of the Aggies’ winning 4x400m relay squad. Hayles won the 400m with a time of 46.30, which is the top mark in the CAA and ranks eighth in the NCAA this season. The junior sprinter helped North Carolina A&T post a time of 3:06.81 in the 4x400m relay, the top performance in the conference and the 10th-best time in the nation. Hayles is now a perfect 4-for-4, winning all the events he has competed in this season.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Aeneas Reed, North Carolina A&T
Sophomore | Jumps / Sprints | Germantown, Tenn. / Germantown
Reed recorded a personal-best performance in the long jump to win the event at the Carolina Challenge. Reed leaped 7.25m (23-09.50) to establish the league’s top mark in the event this season. Additionally, Reed competed in the 60m dash, setting a personal record in the prelims with a time of 6.95.
Women’s Notes
Charleston – The Cougars competed at the Blue Marlin Invitational in Virginia Beach.
Lucy Lieger earned a second-place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.65m (11-11.75), which is tied for second in the CAA this season …
Elon – The Phoenix traveled to the Brant Tolsma Invitational, hosted by Liberty.
Stephanie Lair opened her season victorious in the 800m, running 2:14.61 to win the event. The time ranks fifth in the CAA …
Hampton – The Lady Pirates were in action for the fourth time this season, participating in the Blue Marlin Invitational.
Jaydea Carter earned three event victories, winning the 60m (7.67), 60m hurdles (8.66) and 200m (24.81) …
Monmouth – The Hawks completed their fourth competition this season at the Villanova Invitational, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
Ashley Navarro won the 1000m with a personal-best time of 2:44.58, marking her third event victory in the past three competitions …
North Carolina A&T – The Aggies participated in the Carolina Challenge, hosted by South Carolina.
Ayoola Gbolade posted a league-leading time in the 800m, running 2:06.92 to place second in the event. The time is nearly five seconds faster than the next best time in the conference and ranks 14
th in the NCAA this season …
UNCW – The Seahawks were in action at the Brant Tolsma Invitational.
Courtney Lines won the long jump for the second straight weekend, recording a mark of 5.87m (19-03.25) …
Northeastern – The Huskies competed at the Battle in Beantown, hosted by Boston University.
Gianna Rao broke the Northeastern program record in the weight throw for the second time this season. Rao recorded a personal-best throw of 21.03m (69-00.00) to win the event and extend her league-leading mark. It is over three meters farther than the next-best mark in the conference and ranks 16
th in the NCAA this season …
Stony Brook – The Seawolves compete for the fourth time this season, participating in the Villanova Invitational. Grace Sisson recorded a personal record in the 3000m with a time of 10:02.97 …
Towson – The Tigers participated at the Gulden Invitational hosted by Bucknell.
Emmanuel Mevo was named Field Event MVP after winning the long jump and triple jump (11.58m). Her mark of 5.75m (18-10.50) in the long jump was a personal best and ranks fourth in the CAA …
William & Mary - The Tribe returned to the track for its first competition of the New Year at the Brant Tolsma Invitational.
Olesya Sitkowski notched an indoor personal best in the pole vault, recording a league-leading clearance of 3.80m (12-05.50).

Alexsander Micich recorded the top finish for Stony Brook at the competition, finishing second in the long jump (6.90m) …
William & Mary – The Tribe competed in its second meet this winter, participating at the Brant Tolsma Invitational.
Daniel Layton and
Austin Rice had record days for William & Mary. Layton broke the school record in the heptathlon (4,967 points), and Rice set a freshman record in the 400m with a time of 48.73.
