RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 12, 2023) – The battle for postseason positioning heats up around the CAA, with women’s soccer reaching its penultimate weekend and clinching opportunities abound in multiple league sports.
Women’s Soccer
Towson and Hofstra punched their tickets into the six-team CAA Championship field on Sunday with plenty more to be decided this weekend. Monmouth and William & Mary can both earn postseason spots on the road Thursday, as wins by the Hawks (at Charleston, 7 p.m., FloFC) and Tribe (at UNCW, 7 p.m., FloFC) would get those teams in. Elsewhere in Thursday’s abbreviated schedule, Stony Brook hosts Drexel (6:31 p.m., FloFC) with both teams in need of three points and Elon heads to Hofstra (7 p.m., FloFC).
Sunday’s slate starts with three noon matches, as William & Mary visits Charleston, Elon heads to Stony Brook, and Towson will take a trip to Northeastern; the Huskies are into the CAA Championship with a win or draw. All three noon starts will be available on FloFC. At 1 p.m., Delaware goes up to Hofstra (FloFC), Monmouth visits UNCW (FloFC), and Campbell takes on Hampton in Norfolk. |
Weekend Schedule
Men’s Soccer
Saturday’s five-game docket begins with a pair of 1 p.m. matches, as Drexel hosts UNCW and William & Mary takes on Charleston. At 7 p.m., Elon hosts Campbell, Monmouth welcomes in Northeastern, and No. 18 Hofstra can move into a tie with idle Stony Brook for first place when the Pride heads to Newark to face Delaware. All five games can be seen on FloFC. |
Weekend Schedule
Volleyball
This weekend marks the midway point of the conference schedule in CAA Volleyball, and entering Saturday, the top nine teams in the league standings are separated by two games. Four matchups this weekend feature teams tied or within two games of each other in the conference standings. Towson (6-2) – tied for first – visits UNCW (5-3), which sits in a tie for third, while William & Mary (6-2) – off to its best start in CAA play since 2009 – travels to Hofstra (4-4). Additionally, Delaware and Stony Brook, locked in a five-way tie for third, square off on Long Island, and Campbell, also tied for third, entertains Charleston (4-4). Furthermore, North Carolina A&T and Elon continue a 45-year rivalry, and Northeastern welcomes Hampton to town, rounding out the weekend matchups. |
Weekend Schedule
Field Hockey
There are a pair of pivotal matchups in CAA Field Hockey, with the top four teams in the conference standings squaring off on Friday. At 4 p.m., the first-place Monmouth Hawks (3-0) host Northeastern (2-1) and Drexel (2-1) entertains William & Mary (3-1). The four teams are separated by just one game in the league standings as the Hawks and Tribe look to punch their tickets to the conference tournament with wins this weekend. Monmouth has defeated Northeastern by one goal in back-to-back seasons, and this year should be another good matchup as the Huskies have a league-best nine goals in conference play, while the Hawks have allowed just one goal in three CAA matches, including two shutouts. Meanwhile, the Dragons snapped a six-game skid against the Tribe with a 1-0 overtime victory last fall. We expect another closely contested contest come Friday, as four of the past five matchups have been decided by just one goal. In addition, Hofstra hosts Towson to begin the conference slate at 3 p.m. on Friday before the weekend concludes with five non-conference contests on Sunday. |
Weekend Schedule

On the men’s side, Campbell and William & Mary to Maryland for the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Elon hosts the Phoenix Invitational in Burlington with North Carolina A&T also taking part, and Hofstra crosses the Sound for Sacred Heart’s fall event.
