RICHMOND, Va. (October 24, 2023) – Towson senior Brian Benzing earned CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors, while UNCW sophomore Ethan Badrian was chosen as the CAA Men’s Diver of the Week. William & Mary freshman Lauren Tucker received Women’s Swimmer of the Week accolades, and Delaware sophomore Alex Pastris was selected as the Women’s Diver of the Week.
CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week
Brian Benzing, Sr., Towson (Ellicott City, Md.)
Benzing turned in another dominant performance, winning all five individual events to help lead Towson to team victories over Old Dominion (116-89) and William & Mary (141-121) last weekend. Against W&M, the senior posted a CAA-best time of 48.55 in the 100 fly and a time of 2:02.35 in the 200 breast that was just shy of his league-leading mark. Against ODU, Benzing turned in a time of 1:39.26 in the 200 free that is the fastest in the CAA this season and a time of 53.74 in the 100 breast that was less than a half-second off his league-best mark.
CAA Men’s Diver of the Week
Ethan Badrian, So., UNCW (Silver Springs, Md.)
Badrian recorded an NCAA Diving Zone cut score of 307.95 in the 1-meter competition to place second in UNCW’s meet against North Carolina. He also finished third on the 3-meter board with a score of 273.83. Both scores were season-best for the 2022 CAA Diver of the Year.
CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Lauren Tucker, Fr., William & Mary (Bethesda, Md.)
Tucker won two individual events and was part of a second-place relay team in William & Mary’s 199-63 team victory over CAA foe Towson. She posted a time of 10:14.45 in the 1,000 free, which shaved seven seconds off her previous-best conference leading performance. Tucker captured the 500 free in a time of 5:01.28, which was less than a second behind her CAA-best effort from a week ago. The freshman also swam the final leg of W&M’s 400 relay team that had a 2
nd-place time of 3:30.80.
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Alex Pastris, So., Delaware (Broomall, Pa.)
Pastris posted an NCAA Diving Zone cut score of 276.30 on the 1-meter board to place fourth in Delaware’s meet against Yale last Saturday. She also finished second in the 3-meter competition with a score of 273.83.
