CAA Field Hockey Weekly Awards – Oct. 30

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 30, 2023) – The CAA has announced its field hockey weekly award winners following the final week of the 2023 regular season. William & Mary graduate forward Lauren Curran earned her second consecutive CAA Player of the Week honor, while Drexel freshman defender/midfielder Pien Elsen was named CAA Rookie of the Week.

Curran led William & Mary to a 2-0 weekend to conclude the regular season with eight points on four goals. On Friday, the graduate forward tallied her first career hat trick, recording six points to pace W&M in a 7-0 win over Queens (N.C.). Curran scored two goals in the first period and added one in the third to record the first hat trick for the Tribe since 2018. On Sunday, Curran extended her goal-scoring streak to four straight matches, recording one tally in a 3-0 win over Richmond.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Pien Elsen, Drexel
Freshman | Defense / Midfield | Rotterdam, Netherlands / Lyceum Rotterdam
Elsen recorded five points on two goals and one assist, helping Drexel to a 2-0 weekend and secure a berth in the CAA Tournament. The freshman defender/midfielder tallied her first multi-goal performance in a 3-2 double-overtime victory over Northeastern. Elsen scored in the 26th minute to level the score at 1-1 before recording the game-winner in the 73rd minute, sending the Dragons to the conference tournament. She followed the performance with one assist in a 2-0 win over Quinnipiac to finish the regular season.
