MANAHAWKIN, N.J. (Oct. 4, 2023) – Drexel senior forward
Eline Di Leva was named the Offensive Player of the Week by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Wednesday morning.
The honor comes after being named the CAA Player of the Week on Monday, her second CAA weekly award in as many weeks.
Di Leva scored or assisted on four of Drexel’s five goals, totaling seven points, in a 2-0 week as the Dragons extended their winning streak to five games. Last Friday, the senior forward tallied both goals in a double-overtime victory over Hofstra, including the game-winner with 17 seconds remaining in the second overtime period. She followed the performance with three points on one goal and one assist against Wagner, recording her second game-winning goal in a row.
Di Leva has found the back of the cage in five straight contests, recording six goals and 14 points during that span. The Lelystad, Netherlands native ranks fourth in the CAA in points per game (1.33) and fifth in overall points. On the year, Di Leva has six goals and four assists.
The Dragons are back in action with a non-conference contest on Sunday. Drexel visits Lafayette at 1 p.m. (YouTube), looking for its longest winning streak since 2013.
It marks the second time this season CAA Field Hockey has had a National Player of the Week recognized by the NFHCA.
