INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 11, 2023) – Northeastern senior women’s cross country runner Abigail Hassman and junior men’s cross country runner Benjamin Godish earned individual bids to the 2023 NCAA Cross Country National Championships following All-Region performances yesterday.

After both claimed individual titles at the 2023 CAA Cross Country Championships, Hassman placed fourth in the women’s 6K, and Godish took seventh in the men’s 10K at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.

Hassman ran to a personal best and program record of 19:57.5 at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Godish also had a career day, posting a PR of 29:51.7, which ranks fourth all-time in NU program history.

The Northeastern duo received automatic qualification based on their respective finishes, and the entire field of team and individual qualifiers were announced Saturday evening during the NCAA Selection show.

Hassman becomes the first woman in Northeastern program history to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, while Godish follows in the footsteps of Alexander Korczynski, who qualified last season.

It marks the fourth time in the last five seasons CAA Cross Country has had an individual qualifier for the NCAA Championships, but it is the first time since 2014 that the CAA will be represented in both the men’s and women’s races.

The 2023 NCAA DI Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be on Saturday, November 18, at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va. Both races will be streamed on ESPNU and the ESPN app, with coverage beginning at 9:30 a.m.
