Towson Hosts Monmouth Sunday in CAA Women’s Soccer Final

TOWSON, Md. (Nov. 4, 2023) – Towson and Monmouth square off Sunday in Maryland with both in search of their first CAA Women’s Soccer title.
Top-seeded Towson, which boasts the CAA’s top scoring offense and defense, will host the game at Tiger Field. Towson (14-2-2) won its first CAA regular season title and features the conference’s top two scorers with 13 goals each from
Nia Christopher and
Jasmine Hamid, who are tied for 11
th nationally.
Towson defeated William & Mary in last Sunday’s Semifinals, 1-0, on a goal in the closing minutes from Christopher.
Monmouth (11-5-2) finished third in the regular season and will play for the league title in its second year in the CAA. The Hawks are 15
th in the nation in shutout percentage with
Cassie Coster’s 11 shutouts good for fourth in the nation.
Monmouth won two games last weekend on Long Island to get to Sunday, defeating Stony Brook, 3-0, in the First Round before upending second-seeded Hofstra, 2-1, in overtime in the Semifinals on a
Summer Reimet goal in the 108
th minute.
Monmouth is in search of its 11
th conference title since 1995; Towson is aiming for its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
