CAA Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards - Nov. 7

RICHMOND, Va. (November 7, 2023) – Drexel sophomore Sebastian Smith received CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors, while Drexel senior Jack Patton was named the CAA Men’s Diver of the Week. Drexel grad student Chelsea Gravereaux and William & Mary sophomore Sophia Heilen shared Women’s Swimmer of the Week accolades, and Northeastern junior Erin Murphy was chosen as the Women’s Diver of the Week.
CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week
Sebastian Smith, So., Drexel (Wappingers, N.Y.)
Smith turned in a first and second place effort in two individual events and was part of a winning relay team in Drexel’s meet with Seton Hall. The sophomore captured the 100 free with a time of 45.54, which is the second-fastest in the CAA this season and placed second to teammate Kuba Kwasny in the 100 fly with a time of 48.82, which is third best in the conference. He was also part of the Dragons’ first-place 400 medley relay team with a time of 3:20.04.
CAA Men’s Diver of the Week
Jack Patton, Sr., Drexel (Chattanooga, Tenn.)
Patton recorded a pair of third place finishes in Drexel’s meet against Seton Hall last Friday. The senior posted a score of 256.05 on the 1-meter board and tallied a score of 252.75 in the 3-meter competition.
CAA Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Chelsea Gravereaux, Gr., Drexel (Emmaus, Pa.)
Gravereaux captured three individual events as Drexel topped Seton Hall, 172-127, last Friday. The grad student won the 100 free in a CAA-best time of 51.19, claimed the 200 free in a time of 1:51.57, which is the second-best in the conference, and took the 50 free in a time of 23.75, which is third-best in the league.
CAA Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Sophia Heilen, So., William & Mary (Haymarket, Va.)
Heilen registered three individual victories as William & Mary rolled past Loyola (Md.), 185-77. The sophomore won the 200 fly in a time of 2:00.85, claimed the 200 breast in a time of 2:17.47 and took the 200 IM in a time of 2:04.89. All three performances were just shy of her CAA-best marks in each event.
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Erin Murphy, Jr., Northeastern (Duxbury, Mass.)
Murphy earned a pair of top-two finishes to help lead Northeastern past UConn, 165-133, last Saturday. The junior compiled a score of 262.13 to tie for the top spot on the 1-meter board and posted a score of 263.78 to finish as the runner-up on the 3-meter board.
