RICHMOND, Va. (December 12, 2023) – Towson senior Brian Benzing received CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors, while Towson sophomore Ally Frame and Northeastern senior Grace Miller shared CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week accolades. Northeastern junior Erin Murphy was chosen as the Women’s Diver of the Week.
CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week
Brian Benzing, Sr., Towson (Ellicott City, Md.)
Benzing narrowly missed his second U.S. Olympic Trials cut after posting a time of 54.31 in the 100 fly at the Navy Long Course Trials. The second-place finish in the event was 0.72 seconds shy of the time standard for the Olympic Trials.
CAA Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Ally Frame, So., Towson (Ballston Lake, N.Y.)
Frame set a Towson program long course record in the 100 back, registering a time of 1:03.36 to place second in the event. Her time was less than two seconds off the U.S. Olympic Trials cut in the event.
CAA Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Grace Miller, Sr., Northeastern (Morristown, N.J.)
Miller recorded a pair of first place efforts to help Northeastern earn a 163-115 victory against New Hampshire. The senior claimed the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.95 and also turned in a winning performance in the 500 free with a time of 5:09.81.
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Erin Murphy, Jr., Northeastern (Duxbury, Mass.)
Murphy continued her strong season in Northeastern’s 163-115 win over New Hampshire last weekend. The junior captured the 1-meter dive with a score of 257.93 and placed second on the 3-meter board with a score of 256.28. Murphy has won at least one diving event in the Huskies’ past three meets.
