RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 7, 2023) – Northeastern junior Benjamin Godish was named CAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Year, and Stony Brook’s Collin Gilstrap and Andy Ronan earned the respective honors of CAA Rookie and Coach of the Year announced by the conference office on Thursday. The league's head coaches voted on the 2023 CAA Cross Country postseason awards.

Godish took the torch and ran with it, becoming the third straight Runner of the Year from Northeastern. The junior won the CAA Individual title (24:06.4) in October after claiming a victory at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, running a personal-best 23:55.7 in the 8K. Additionally, Godish was the lone CAA qualifier for the 2023 NCAA Championships on the men’s side. He ran to an All-Region finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, placing seventh with a 10K PR of 29:51.7. In his NCAA Championship debut, Godish finished 123rd out of the top 255 competitors in the Nation.

Gilstrap was the top-finishing freshman at the CAA Championships, helping Stony Brook to its second consecutive conference title. The first-year runner was the fourth Seawolf to cross the line at the CAA Championships, scoring nine points with a top-10 finish. Gilstrap placed ninth overall in 24:37.4. He posted a season-best time of 24:19.1 in the 8K at the Paul Short Run and competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, finishing 66th in his first-ever 10K (30:49.2). Gilstrap is the first CAA Rookie of the Year in Stony Brook program history.
