WASHINGTON (Feb. 10, 2023) – Five CAA lacrosse players – three from the Stony Brook women’s team and two from Delaware’s men’s squad – were named to the preseason watch lists for the 2023 Tewaaraton Award Friday evening.

Ellie Masera were recognized by the Tewaaraton Foundation, along with Delaware defenseman
Owen Grant and attackman
Mike Robinson.
Masera, the 2023 Preseason CAA Player of the Year and USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Midfielder of the Year, was selected to the 25-Woman Tewaaraton Nominee List last season. The 2022 America East Midfielder of the Year and IWLCA First Team All-American was also the highest Seawolf on the Inside Lacrosse Top 50 Women's Players for 2023 coming in at sixth overall. Masera is coming off a season where she was the first underclassman in Stony Brook's program history to be named an All-American.
Levy joined Masera on the Preseason All-CAA Team and on the Inside Lacrosse Top 50 Women's Players for 2023 being recognized at 37
th overall this past November. The defender was also tabbed to USA Lacrosse Magazine's Preseason All-American Second Team and ILWomen's Preseason All-American Third Team.
Hart was also named to the Preseason All-CAA Team and ranked amongst the ILWomen's Top 50 Women's Players for 2023 at 32
nd overall. The senior was named to USA Lacrosse Magazine's Preseason All-American Third Team earlier this month (Jan. 6). The 2022 America East Attacker of the Year, ILWomen All-American Honorable Mention, USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention, and First Team All-America East finished the season with a career best 64 goals.
Grant, the reigning two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year and 2023 Preseason Defensive Player of the year, played a pivotal role on defense for the Blue Hens in 2022. His 35 caused turnovers set a program record for most caused turnovers in a season. He also holds the program record for most caused turnovers in a career with 87. The redshirt senior from Ontario earned Second Team All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse and was named First Team All-CAA selection last season. In September, Grant was selected third overall by the Vancouver Warriors in the National Lacrosse League draft.
Offensively, Robinson led the Blue Hens, and the CAA, in goals with 53. He scored at least three goals in nine of the Blue Hens' 19 games in 2022, including a season-high six goals against NJIT. In his career, he's scored 113 goals and is 49 away from tying Curtis Dickson's mark for most goals in program history at 162. He was named Second Team All-CAA, was a member of the CAA All-Tournament Team, and received USILA All-American recognitions in 2022.
Both programs were voted as unanimous preseason favorites in the CAA. Stony Brook, which opens the year at No. 6 in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll, begins its season next Friday against No. 17 Michigan on Long Island (4 p.m., FloLive). No. 12 Delaware starts its season Saturday afternoon at Lafayette (12 p.m., ESPN+).
