Shea Berigan are the first CAA Women’s Lacrosse weekly award winners of the 2023 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Corinne Bednarik, Drexel
Senior | Midfield | Glenmoore, Pa. / Downingtown West
Bednarik scored a career-high five goals and her nine points were one shy of Drexel’s program record in a 17-5 rout of Binghamton to open the 2023 season. The all-around stat line from the Drexel midfielder included five goals, four assists, nine points, six ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jo Torres, Towson
Junior | Goalkeeper | Prince Frederick, Md. / St. Mary’s
Torres starred in her Towson debut to help the Tigers to an 11-4 win at Mount St. Mary’s. The preseason All-CAA goalkeeper notched 12 saves while holding the Mountaineers – coming off a 15-5 season and NCAA Tournament appearance – to four goals in the road win.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Shea Berigan, Monmouth
Freshman | Attack | Hingham, Mass. / Hingham
Berigan tallied four goals in her collegiate debuts to help Monmouth to an 18-9 win over George Mason on Friday. The freshman from Massachusetts was efficient, scoring her four goals on four shots with two in the third quarter and two in the fourth.
