RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 8, 2023) – UNCW junior Walker Isley and Charleston sophomore Emma Schimpf are the first CAA Golfers of the Week for the Spring 2023 season.
 
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Walker Isley, UNCW
Junior | Oak Island, N.C. / South Brunswick
Isley finished third at the Battle at Briar’s Creek at 4-under for the tournament. The effort was led by a second-round 68 as UNCW’s three-round score of 865 (+1) placed the Seahawks ahead of CAA competitors Elon and Charleston along with Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Boston College and future CAA member Campbell. Isley was par or better on 34 of his final 36 holes.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Emma Schimpf, Charleston
Sophomore | Daniel Island, S.C. / Oceanside Collegiate Academy
Schimpf is Golfer of the Week for the fifth time in 2022-23 thanks to tying a school record at 205 with her 11-under performance at the UCF Challenge. The sophomore from South Carolina went 69-66-70 to help Charleston finish sixth as a team against high-level competition and ahead of three top-25 teams including No. 6 Texas A&M.

Men’s Notes
Charleston was led by a fourth-place finish from Max Dupree in its January season opener in Jacksonville, while Zach Reuland was the Cougars’ top finisher in seventh at the Battle at Briar’s Creek … Elon was eighth at Briar’s Creek and paced by a tie for seventh between Matthew Doyle and Garrett RisnerUNCW was the CAA’s top finisher at the event at 1-over as a team, finishing third out of 11 teams and ahead of three Power 5 programs with Walker Isley’s 4-under good for third in the tournament … The trio of CAA teams in the event contributed four of the top 11 spots on the leaderboard.
 
Women’s Notes
Charleston was sixth and UNCW tied for 12th at the UCF Challenge … The Cougars’ 845 tied a school record and placed Charleston ahead of three top-25 teams including No. 6 Texas A&M … Mallory Fobes was 7-under for the Seahawks.
