Patrick Sparks are the CAA Golfers of the Week for their recent performances. Wednesday’s accolades recognize accomplishments from Feb. 16-28 based on league schedules during that time.
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Apple Ngamwong, Elon
Junior | Bangkok, Thailand / Wentworth College
Ngamwong earned co-medalist honors at the RiverTowne Invitational with a 54-hole score of 213 (-3). She birdied a par-5 on her final hole of the tournament to share the individual title. Ngamwong was one of six individuals to finish the tournament under par and is the second Elon individual to win a tournament this season, joining Ashley LaFontaine, who won the Elon Invitational in September.
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Patrick Sparks, UNCW
Junior | Lima, Peru / Markham College
Sparks carded a 54-hole career-low score of 209 (-7) to lead UNCW at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii. The junior from Peru went 73-69-67 to climb 13 spots on the final day of the event at the Ocean Course at Hokuala on Kaua’i. Sparks played a bogey-free final round with five birdies, including three of five par-4s on the back nine, and and recorded 12 birdies for the tournament.
