CAA Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards – March 20

RICHMOND, Va. (March 20, 2023) – The CAA has announced its sixth men’s lacrosse weekly awards for the 2023 season. Stony Brook junior Noah Armitage earned CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors, and Drexel redshirt senior Ross Blumenthal received CAA Defensive Player of the Week accolades. In addition, Fairfield freshman Will Consoli was named CAA Rookie of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Noah Armitage, Stony Brook
Junior | Attack / Midfield | New Westminster, B.C. / New Westminster Secondary
Armitage tallied 11 points on eight goals and three assists in a 2-0 for Stony Brook, where the attack produced 37 goals. On Saturday, Armitage recorded a career-high seven points, scoring a career-best six goals with one assist, leading the Seawolves to their first-ever CAA win, defeating Hampton 19-3. Earlier in the week, the junior added four points on two goals and two assists in an 18-8 victory over St. John’s. Armitage has recorded at least one point in every game this season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ross Blumenthal, Drexel
R-Senior | Goalie | Baltimore, Md. / Friends School
Blumenthal recorded his fourth straight game with double-digit saves to help Drexel open CAA play 1-0 with a 12-11 overtime victory over Towson. The Baltimore, Md. native tallied 15 saves and posted a .577 save percentage in 60:46 between the pipes. Blumenthal added three ground balls in the effort, picking up his third winning decision in the past four games.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Will Consoli, Fairfield
Freshman | Midfield | Glen Rock, N.J. / Glen Rock
Consoli matched a season-high with four goals in Fairfield’s CAA opener, helping the Stags defeat Hofstra 12-11. The midfielder tallied two of his team-high four goals in the first quarter, including the opening score in the game. Consoli also played a pivotal role down the stretch, scoring two of the Stags’ three goals in the fourth quarter. He has scored in all eight games to begin his career, with three multi-goal performances this spring.
