RICHMOND, Va. (March 24, 2023) – The last full weekend of March sees CAA competition heat up in numerous sports, including a crowded race at the top in softball, busy Saturdays on lacrosse fields, and golf and track & field events featuring multiple CAA teams.
Men’s Lacrosse
It’s the first full Saturday slate in CAA Men’s Lacrosse, with four conference matchups on the docket. Starting at 11 a.m., Drexel will host newcomer Hampton (FloLive). The Dragons are looking to win their third straight game and improve to 2-0 in league play. Two games are slated for noon, with Monmouth hosting Stony Brook in a battle of conference newcomers (SNY) and Towson entertaining Fairfield (FloLive). The Seawolves are coming off a 2-0 week and their first-ever CAA victory, while the Hawks are searching for that first CAA win. The Stags opened league play 1-0 and are looking for their second-ever win against Towson, while the Tigers are attempting to snap a six-game skid. The final game of the weekend is our Lacrosse TV game of the Week, featuring Hofstra hosting Delaware at 3 p.m. |

Women’s Lacrosse
Four CAA Women’s Lacrosse teams aim to move to 2-0 in league play on Saturday, while their four opponents look for their first conference win. Monmouth looks to start its first CAA season 2-0 with a visit to Delaware (12 p.m., FloLive), No. 6 Stony Brook aims to do the same with a trip to Elon (12 p.m., FloLive), and Towson pursues a 2-0 start with a game at Hofstra (12 p.m., LacrosseTV). William & Mary rides a three-game winning streak to Philadelphia for a meeting with Drexel (4 p.m., FloLive). |

Softball
Through two weekends of conference softball, seven teams have a record of .500 or above in CAA play. Two matchups this weekend feature teams with at least three CAA wins. Elon (5-1), the only team to win both its conference series this spring, will play host to Towson (3-3), coming off a series sweep last weekend. Hofstra (3-0), who opened league play with a series sweep, entertains newcomer Monmouth (3-3) after a pair of competitive series to begin its CAA tenure. Hampton will be back in action, visiting Charleston while an in-state battle has North Carolina A&T traveling to UNCW. Finally, Drexel, who won its opening conference series, will play at home for the first time this season, hosting Stony Brook in search of its first-ever CAA win. |

Baseball
It’s another full weekend of conference play in CAA baseball. Elon (13-8, 5-1) brings a five-game conference winning streak into its series with Delaware (9-11, 2-1 CAA), while co-leader UNCW (13-8, 5-1 CAA) takes a four-game league winning streak to Long Island where it faces Stony Brook (7-11, 1-2 CAA). Charleston (13-7, 4-2 CAA) looks for a third straight series victory as the Cougars welcome Towson (7-16, 1-5 CAA) to Patriots Point. Coming off a mid-week win at No. 24 West Virginia, Hofstra (7-13, 2-4 CAA) stays on the road to meet North Carolina A&T (10-11, 3-3 CAA). William & Mary (12-10, 3-3 CAA) hosts Monmouth (8-9, 1-5 CAA) and Northeastern (14-4) plays a three non-conference set with Hartford. |

Track & Field
It’s a busy weekend on the track as 11 conference teams gear up to compete, including Monmouth opening its outdoor season by hosting the Monmouth Spring Opener. The talk of the town will be centered around Paul Derr Track, where N.C. State is hosting the annual Raleigh Relays. Delaware, Elon, UNCW, Northeastern and Stony Brook will travel to Raleigh. In addition, Charleston and North Carolina A&T head to South Carolina for the Weems Baskin Invitational, and William & Mary will host the Dan Stimson Memorial Invitational, where Hampton will join the Tribe. Towson is also in action, heading to Orlando for the UCF Knights Invite.
Tennis
There are several big conference matches in CAA women’s tennis this weekend..UNCW heads to Long Island to take on Hofstra and Stony Brook, and North Carolina A&T hosts Towson on Friday. Elon (Richmond), Hofstra (UC Irvine) Towson (Howard) and William & Mary (East Carolina) also have home non-conference matches, while Hampton meets George Mason and Temple in Fairfax and Monmouth heads to Siena. On the men’s side, William & Mary travels to Texas where it faces UTSA, Cal Poly and Rice. Elon (Presbyterian) and UNCW (Dartmouth) are at home for non-conference action, while Delaware (Princeton), Hampton (George Mason/Temple), Hofstra (Columbia), Monmouth (Siena) and North Carolina A&T (UNCG/NC State) are on the road.
Golf
In men’s action, Charleston returns to action at the Hootie and the Blowfish event at Bulls Bay, Delaware will play the Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate, North Carolina A&T hosts Elon at the Aggie Invitational, Hofstra and Monmouth head to Maryland for the Battle at Rum Pointe, UNCW hosts the Seahawk Intercollegiate, and William & Mary welcomes Towson as part of the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate.
Women’s events include William & Mary hosting Hofstra, Monmouth, and Towson in the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, Charleston’s visit to Georgia’s Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, Delaware facing Navy in a dual match, and UNCW taking part in the Clemson Tiger Invitational.
Rowing
We have a light weekend on the water with only one CAA rowing team in action. All eyes will be on Lake Nockamixon, where Villanova goes head-to-head with Lehigh and Colgate.
